| Lacquer
ware produced in Vietnam is renowned for the finest hand made
designs, both painted and inlaid. The detail of careful
craftsmanship makes it uniquely recognized and cherished.
Items include boxes, with either hinged or fully separate lids. These are useful for pens, pencils, and for those who still use them, cigarettes, We have accent pieces that include wall hangings and vases. Of course there is a wide variety of furniture: tables, chairs, sofas, dining room sets and living room sets. Occasional pieces, full rooms or accents. |
Woods
used are bamboo, teak, and fruit woods. Each piece is first hand
cut to its intended size and shape. The pieces are then kiln dried
to retard cracking when used in climates that use central heating and
cooling.
Manufacturing methods retain centuries-old techniques. The process is months long for each individually hand-worked article. It includes carving, sanding and then assembly before a three months-long process of repeated coatings of clay and lacquer. This is then followed by detailed hand crafting by painting. Some designs use mother of pearl or egg shell inlays that incorporate many additional steps. |
At home or in the office, the beauty of these products is universally recognized. There is no skill equal to the Vietnamese in producing these traditional and modern designs. A representative sample are shown below.
With increasing demand for these artifacts, we will be building these pages with a caveat: availability and consistent pricing remains a challenge. The items listed are examples only. Hundreds of more fine products are available.

Prices quoted are in US$ with delivery FOB port of Saigon with the following presumptions: (i) minimum order of lacquerware products must exceed US$ 3,000; (ii) CIF terms are available but otherwise shipping and insurance is not included; (iii) factory standard packing - Styrofoam and cardboard, packed in wood crates; (iv) arrival customs duty if any is not included; (v) full payment in advance on all order that do not exceed US$ 10,000; and (vi) payment is made by wire transfer only.
