FISHING LAKE & BOTANICAL GARDEN
This salt water lake, 15ha (37 acres) in size and over 10m (32 feet) deep at its center, is stocked with tropical fish that are commonly found in coastal Vietnamese waterways. The fish are raised for several years in breeding pens on the lake's far side. They are nurtured and released to the general lake population when they are in their prime. Many weigh up to 4 kg (9 pounds) and beyond.
Be cautious, for at this great size they will put up a considerable fight if you intend to take them away from the comforts they enjoy at the Cua Lap Resort.
The Pier extends 40m (131 feet) into the lake, from which fishing for a fee is encouraged. Fishing is also encouraged from row boats and kayaks that may be rented. Fishing is not permitted from the shore for reasons of safety and security. The shore is patrolled along with the nature trails.
Fish that are killed (retained or not) are bought by the fishermen at Cua Lap market prices per kilo.
Bait & Tackle Shop - Completely stocked for lake or deep-sea fishing, there is no need to fib about the one that got away. Fish may also be "caught" in the pier-side Bait & Tackle Shop. Rumor has it that we track each fish that are tagged with computer-chip transponders, and trace them on local sonar. The rumor continues that hourly reports on the location of the largest fish are freely available from knowledgeable staff at the Bait & Tackle Shop. However, the management of Cua Lap Resort are discreet. We never comment on rumors of the whereabouts or doings of our guests, above or below the sea.
The Botanical Garden Nature - Jogging Trail extends and twists-about to the tip of Cua Lap Peninsula. Take a long or short one. The peninsula length is a full 700 meters (1 mile) from the Marina. However the meandering path and branches are nearly triple that length. At almost every angel of sight, major flora are identified with attractive ceramic markers. Each marker has photographs or drawings that show blossoms and leaves for easy identification. All markers are in both Vietnamese and English. Similar ceramic markers with photographs of the fish inhabiting the Lake and the East Sea are found all around the shore.
Security along the entire perimeter of the lake, throughout the breadth of the botanical trail, is extensive. Many of our guards are in uniform. Telephones are found every 100 meters along the trail. The trail is well lighted at night and closed at an appropriate hour. However, as with the entire Cua Lap Resort site, security for residents continues, 24-hours, every day of the year.
