AQUARIUM & IMAX® THEATER
Aquarium & Maritime Center. You have not seen Vietnam's East Sea (also known as the South China Sea) until you see it in the Cua Lap Aquarium. You dont just watch; you participate. We have interactive displays and ever-changing exhibits. You see, hear and feel the marine life from the 3,260 km (2,025 miles) of Vietnams coastline. More than 100 species living in re-creations of their own, natural East Sea habitats.
Have you heard the cry of "Shark! Shark!"
At the Cua Lap Aquarium, following the examples of the US National Aquarium in Baltimore and the Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk, this cry doesnt signal impending danger. Its a call to excitement and wonder. Here in our incredible 413,000 liter (110,000 gal) shark tank, youll come nose-to-nose with some of the seas most spectacular creatures, many of them as long as 3 meters (9 feet). Fortunately, theres a 10cm (4 inch) thick window in between.
Ever touch a live shark? How about a live octopus? You can in our Touch Tank. They wont bite, but they may squeeze you..., but not too hard.
Ever dine or even just meet a shark (as bankers and lawyers are often called) who was not wearing his three-piece business suits? Ours are naked - - but hardly vulnerable. Click on the photo below, then stand back!
Corporate cocktail receptions and family celebration parties will take place while our large friends look on, from a safe distance of course. Reception facilitates in conjunction with the Cua Lap Hotel & Tennis Club are available for 600, or banquets for up to 400 at a sit-down dinner. Sorry, no shark's fin soup!
Or, you can simply visit any day or evening. Have lunch or dinner at one of the many restaurants in the Resort. Enjoy the aquarium at night. Take in the early evening IMAX® show and be home before 10:00 PM, any evening of the week. Home can be at Cua Lap. HCMC is less than one hour away.
IMAX Theater - Words and even photos cannot describe the IMAX® experience. It takes you to places youve never been and most likely will probably never go on your own: the top of Mt Everest; the canyons of the deepest ocean; in and about Grand Canyon; flying on a para-sail off the cliffs of Dover; into outer space - to the Moon and beyond.
The theater screen is 24.4m (80ft) wide and 18.2m (60ft) tall. A 24,000 - watt sound system surrounds you and puts you right in the middle of the action. Sitting in soft, reclining seats, you seem to fly, climb, dive and slide with the action, and even shake with the effect. Its only audio and visual, but its the closest you can get to actually being there. Its hard to believe Ho Chi Minh City is less than one hour away.
Click on the photo below, but even the enlargement does not do justice to the concept. Shows change every six weeks. Corporate and family parties are encouraged. Seating for 500
IMAX® Theaters use a fish-eye lens to project a high-resolution image to a huge screen.
IMAX® uses the largest film frame in existence, 70mm with 15 perforations per frame -- 10 times the size of the 35mm frame projected by most theaters. Called 15/70 film, there are now more than 140 titles available, and more in the works.
