The long and rich history of Vietnam is more than 4,000 years old. It's written history is more than 2,000 years long.  Often ruled and dominated by other nations, Vietnam's culture is a rich compellation of its own many ethnic tribes as well as the those of its former rulers.

The items from Vietnam, some of which can be purchased today and are shown below, include old, antique, and truly ancient objects. The beauty is often simple, sometimes complex, and always lasting.

Ancient objects are Cham or Khmer in form, style and substance.   Religious in origin, they come from temples and shrines, often buried for centuries. They are simply stupendous to see, indescribable to hold, and unbelievable to own.

Antique items are Vietnamese, Chinese and French in form, style and substance.  Usually decorative in origin, many are huge in proportion and came from great palaces or private homes.

Old items are mostly Vietnamese in form, style and substance.   Many are religious in origin and came from temples that have been modernized to appeal to the current tastes and styles of the dynamic people of Vietnam. Ceramics are often sea-preserved. Many bronzes come from France, arrived when they did in the 1850s, and now are for sale.

Many items are quickly sold.  The best way to purchase antiques is to visit Vietnam and hire VVG as your purchasing agent.  We will take you to the best nooks and crannies in the nation, and if you are lucky, even a few private collections. We do NOT sell these over the Internet.

Please write to us and tell us about your needs and allow us to help you to plan your visit to Vietnam.  Share with us your plans and we will serve your needs by taking you to the very best places, both private and public, to purchase the antiques and other fine products you desire. Read our full terms and conditions for this service.

The following are samples of what VVG will help you to locate when you hire us.

NOTE: Antiques are loosely defined by Vietnam law that can include "old" items as young as a few decades.  Items imported in personal holdings and declared as antique in customs papers have been denied exit authority under Vietnam's draconian customs procedures. Old items must first past Export Control of the Ministry of Culture and Information for an export license that is required for Customs clearance to insure they are not antique.

Products of cultural and religious significance, even if not antique, may not be salable even within Vietnam

Antiques offered on these pages may not be available for export. Buyers must be prepared to have all items, antique or not, checked with the Ministry of Culture and Information prior to sale to insure that the sale can be legally completed.

Some of the items offered are hundreds, others may be more than one thousand, years old.  Under no circumstances will VVG assist an international buyer in exporting goods that are restricted by the State of Vietnam,, nor will we knowingly sell to a buyer who intends to ship these products out of Vietnam.
